What is EVSE?

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment “EVSE” is not a charger, but is everything else (connectors, conductors, outlets, etc.) specifically for the purpose of safely delivering energy to the EV from premises wiring.

A general term for all of the equipment used to supply electricity to the car. In most cases, the battery charger resides in the vehicle. EV Supply Equipment is simply regulating the flow of AC power to vehicle charger.

Only in DC charging is the EVSE equipment directly charging the batteries.

In common use a charging station is where you get the electric power for your electric car’s charger.
